If you’re looking for time management tips to support your journey to financial freedom, you’ve come to the right place!
Time management can make all the difference when it comes to achieving your most ambitious goals, especially when you have many competing priorities.
As a busy mom of two, I balanced a full-time career alongside my family duties, hobbies, and multiple side hustles, focusing my time and energy where needed most.
Despite many competing priorities, I built a successful career while managing a chronic illness, made a massive career pivot, self-published my first novel in 2017, paid off $85K of student debt in 18 months, turned one of my side gigs into a full-time career, and began a journey to a FIRE lifestyle.
And yes, I still have a life. I go on family trips and have hobbies that include yoga, running, reading, writing, and video games.
It’s safe to say I’ve learned a thing or two about time management, but this article isn’t about what I’ve achieved – it’s about how YOU can achieve what matters most to you, especially regarding financial freedom.
Your time can be your most valuable asset, but as a high-achiever, it can be hard to balance everything.
Mastering the following time management tips will allow you to maximize your productivity, increase your earning potential, and ultimately, achieve your financial goals faster.
In this article, you’ll learn everything you need to know about time management to support your FIRE (financial independence, retire early) or financial freedom journey.

What These Time Management Tips Can Do For You
As a goal-oriented individual, you probably don’t need me to tell you the importance of time management. You learned about it in school and may have even heard from family members, friends, and/or employers why it matters.
But let’s pretend for a moment that you’ve never heard about it.
Goals are great. In fact, I usually recommend starting with a vision board when you’re working toward your goals.
However, you need some other skills to accomplish your goals. Master time management and you’ll drastically increase your ability to achieve them.
When you master the time management tips detailed below, you’ll learn not only how to achieve your goals, but you’ll also learn how to manage your stress, prioritize and plan activities, and improve your quality of life.
Ultimately, you’ll learn to focus on the activities that will enable you to achieve your goals. You might even get so great at time management that you achieve your goals sooner.

10 Time Management Tips to Uplevel Your Productivity
Are you ready to unlock your inner productivity beast and accomplish your most ambitious goals? Master the following 10 time management tips to accelerate your progress:
1. Prioritize Ruthlessly:
- Have you already created a vision board? Great! Now identify which of your goals are a higher priority. I recommend picking no more than 2-3 goals to focus on at any time.
- Learn to say “no” to activities that don’t align with your FIRE goals (or any other goals that are a priority).
2. The Power of the To-Do List:
- Break down your goals into step-by-step tasks.
- Identify activities with the greatest impact on your priority goals (follow the 80/20 principle outlined below).
- Create a daily or weekly to-do list to prioritize tasks and stay organized.
- Break down large tasks into smaller, more manageable steps.
Key tip: I recommend using ClickUp to manage your to-do list.

3. Time Blocking:
- Allocate specific time blocks for activities including work, exercise, and leisure. This helps you maintain focus and avoid distractions.
- Create a daily/weekly/monthly routine to keep you on track (for example: every week I practice yoga Monday night, and run Tuesday and Thursday afternoons at a minimum).
4. Minimize Distractions:
- Turn off notifications, find a quiet workspace, and eliminate distractions that can derail your productivity.
5. Leverage Technology:
- Utilize productivity tools like project management software, calendar apps, and note-taking apps to streamline your workflow.
- Here are a list of some of my favorites:
6. Automate Tasks:
- Automate repetitive tasks whenever possible, such as bill payments and investment contributions.
Psst… this is one of my favorite ways to manage savings and investments. Automate deposits and you’ll never miss money you didn’t have to spend 😉

7. Review and Adjust:
- Regularly review the progress you’re making toward your goals, and evaluate the effectiveness of your approach. Don’t be afraid to make adjustments as needed!
- Identify areas for improvement and don’t be afraid to experiment with different techniques to find what works best for you. Consider incorporating new tools or taking a different approach where warranted.
8. Embrace the 80/20 Rule:
- Follow the Pareto Principle and focus on the 20% of tasks that yield 80% of the results. Identify your most important tasks and prioritize them accordingly.
9. Practice the Art of Delegation:
- Delegate tasks whenever possible to free up your time and focus on higher-level activities.
10. Schedule Breaks and Recharge:
- Avoid burnout to keep yourself on track. Schedule regular breaks throughout the day to rest and recharge.
Key tip: make sure you’re incorporating a self-care routine that keeps you energized and recharged. As an ambitious individual, you may feel like you’re “wasting time” on yourself, but in reality, you’re ensuring you remain in tip-top shape to achieve your goals.
By implementing these time management tips, you can optimize your productivity, achieve your financial goals more efficiently, and ultimately accelerate your journey towards FIRE.

Putting These Time Management Tips Into Practice
Already mastered one or a few of the tips above? Are there any in particular that you struggle with?
Embrace your strengths and consider developing them further. Alternatively, you might prefer to focus on improving a weakness.
Personally, I like a balance between the two. Typically, I find more value when I focus on improving a strength. However, it can make sense to improve one of my weaknesses.
For instance, I’m good at building a to-do list and following the 80/20 rule to prioritize tasks. I’ve gotten better at this by incorporating tools like ClickUp.
I’m not great at delegating, but I’ve improved my ability to delegate less important tasks or forgo some tasks entirely.
As you’re working toward your goals, focus on incorporating at least 2-3 of the above tips and you’ll be well on your way to growth and achievement.
