If you’ve already started a passion project, or even if you’re thinking of getting something new started, you’ll want to consider some passion project reflection questions to ensure your project is properly serving you.

As a mom, you’re constantly giving of yourself. You’re there for your kids, your partner, your job, and your community. You’re a caregiver, a chauffeur, a teacher, a cook, and a maid, among everything else to your family, right?

It can be easy to lose sight of your own passions and dreams. But it’s important to make time for the things that make you happy, even if it’s just a little bit each day.

That’s where passion projects and side hustles can come in. You might choose to work on anything from writing to painting or volunteering. You may also decide to start your own business or do something else entirely different.

A passion project is something that you do for yourself, either as a way to make extra money or simply because you enjoy it.

In this article, I’m going to share some passion project reflection questions to ask yourself, which will serve you whether you’re considering starting a new project or simply reflecting on the one you’re already working on.

Passion Project Reflection Questions to Consider for New Projects or Side Hustles

Thinking about starting a new project? Here are a few passion project reflection questions for you to consider as you get started:

1. What am I actually passionate about?

Ask yourself the following questions:

  • What are my interests?
  • What do I love to do?
  • What am I good at?

When you’re in this stage, I also encourage you to take an inventory of your strengths. While you can certainly complete this step on your own, the book, Strengths Finder is a great source of support, and it comes with a free quiz when you buy it new.

2. What are my goals for my passion project?

What do you want to achieve? Do you want to leave a lasting legacy? Have something to enjoy doing once a month, a week, or more? Or make extra income each month?

3. How much time can I commit to my passion project?

Do you have time to set aside each week? Or even just once a month?

As a mom, you undoubtedly have numerous priorities, so where does your new passion project fit in with everything else?

4. What resources do I need to get started?

Will you need new tools and supplies? What materials or resources will support your successful new venture?

5. What challenges do I anticipate facing?

If your passion project is more than a hobby, you will undoubtedly face challenges along the way. How will you overcome said challenges? Who will you reach out to when you need support?

6. How will I measure my success?

Is it enough for you to simply spend time on your passion project each week? Will you complete a particular number of deliverables in a given week? Will your new project have an expected impact on you, your family, or your community?

Once you’ve answered these questions, you’ll be well on your way to starting your passion project.

Reflection is an important part of any passion project or side hustle. It helps you stay motivated, make adjustments, and celebrate your successes.

Don’t forget to take some time to reflect on your passion project regularly, and more importantly, don’t be afraid to make healthy changes!

Your passion project should be something that fulfills you, so if you need to make a pivot to make the impact you’re seeking, then dare to explore and try something else.

I made several pivots throughout my journey, and it’s absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. I started my journey with my book, a lifestyle blog, then my copywriting business, before getting into FIRE Your Career and marketing consulting.

Here are some additional tips if you’re considering starting a new passion project, or simply reflecting on the value of an existing project:

  • Ask for help. If you’re struggling to get started or stay motivated, don’t be afraid to ask for help from your partner, friends, or family.
